Understanding Love!

Love can manifest in numerous ways. While referring to love, I would revert to the age old understanding of love, i.e. a relationship, primarily romantic in nature. My attempts to understand what 'love' means has failed numerous times. What is love? What is it about love that makes it the whole world? Why is a person so important, even when he/she puts you in agony? Why is it that a person, whom you love, makes you happy? In that case you love yourself more and you know that the person makes you happy, and that is why you love that particular person. Is love a cosmic manipulation of the stars or an attraction or just an extension of a good partnership. Can love overshadow a good companionship?

Falling in love is very easy, but sustaining the feelings and being in love to carry forward the togetherness is certainly a herculean task. The new age mantra of love highly requires the statement- ' my partner should be understanding'!! It certainly does depict the primacy of self governing ideologies, where you can't think of the other. The new age jargon of love has condensed to 'understanding', where  understanding in a relationship is also a  a limiting factor where  each one expects the other to be understanding and forgets to do the same. The' issues of understanding' has also been an easy escape to quit a relationship, where simply stating that ' he or she was not understanding and that is why we broke off, is a very common excuse.

My understanding of love, time and again, has reinforced the basic that in love- 'I' becomes 'US'! When in love, you do things for not just yourself but for the others. It doesn't mean that you don't do things for yourself, it simply means that 'US' isn't missing. Love might seem old fashioned, but it does exist. The evidences can be seen in the number of romantic films that gets released every year. In fact, any genre of movie would have some essence of love attached to it.

The present day generation is scared of making 'us' work. To them, 'Us' seems as a heavy burden- where relationships just means sacrifices and nothing else. Rather than taking it as a journey-a companionship, people view it as a commodity, which ensures that you aren't alone. The missing piece in the puzzle of love 'is the joy of making it worthy'. People spend hours and huge amounts on looking good. Why not try and spend time to make your relationship work? As being loved, does make u happy and beautiful. In today's world making relationship work is the hardest, as letting go is easy. It is important to try and make it work (if you have  a worthy partner), as many a times your own worth increases if you have someone who Treasures YOU!
